At the kickoff meeting, Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu of Suncheon City stated, "We will fill Suncheon's future with space in the sky, culture in the city center, and green bio on the land," emphasizing, "We will complete a first-class Suncheon that leads rather than follows, creates rather than imitates, and competes through self-reliance rather than scale."
For the new year, Suncheon City identified the space and defense industry, the cultural industry, and the establishment of a green bio foundation as core growth pillars. The city also prioritized the reorganization of spatial and living infrastructure, as well as the development of Suncheon as a consumer and tourism city in the southern coastal and Namjung regions, as its main administrative tasks.
Additionally, before delivering his New Year's address, Mayor Noh mentioned ideas for attracting the semiconductor industry to the Suncheon Advanced Industrial Complex, highlighting that Suncheon is the optimal location for the semiconductor industry due to Jeonnam's abundant renewable energy, water resources, excellent workforce, and favorable living conditions.
Meanwhile, the city held an 'Integrity Practice Pledge Ceremony' at the kickoff meeting, reaffirming its commitment to fostering a fair and transparent public service culture. City officials pledged to ensure transparent work processes, maintain a clean and ethical organizational culture, prohibit the acceptance of money or valuables, and comply with the code of conduct.
