A driver is at the center of controversy after personally drawing a 'Disabled Vehicle Parking Permit' and attaching it to their car in order to park in a designated disabled parking space.

On December 31, a post titled "The Consequence for Someone Who Used a Hand-Drawn Disabled Permit" was uploaded to an online community. The photo shared by the informant showed a piece of white paper with a hand-drawn disabled symbol and the words "Disabled Vehicle" displayed on the car's front windshield.

The 'Disabled Vehicle Parking Permit' can only be issued to eligible individuals at the local community center, and forging the permit is a punishable offense. Nevertheless, the vehicle owner created and attached a hand-drawn version.

The informant stated that, after noticing the crudely cut paper and careless drawing, they reported the vehicle owner four to five times, including on the first day it was discovered. During a phone call, the driver reportedly insisted, "This is indeed a disabled vehicle. I don't care if you report it," maintaining a brazen attitude.

If someone creates and attaches a fake Disabled Vehicle Parking Permit and parks in a disabled parking space, they are subject to a 100,000 won fine for illegal parking in a designated disabled space. In addition, forging, altering, or misusing a disabled parking permit can result in a fine of up to 2 million won.

In fact, in June 2024, the Jinju Police Department in South Gyeongsang Province conducted a special crackdown on illegal activities in disabled-only parking spaces, uncovering 34 individuals, including a man in his 40s identified as Mr. A, for misusing disabled parking permits (such as forging official documents), and requested a fine of 2 million won for each offender.

Online commenters reacted by saying, "It's so absurd that I can't tell if it's a joke or serious," and "This is the kind of person who would even draw their own credit card to use."
