Moon Sangho, former Commander of the Defense Security Command (Major General), who is accused of involvement in deploying troops to the National Election Commission during the 12·3 Martial Law, has received a severe disciplinary action.
The Ministry of National Defense announced on January 2 that former Commander Moon was given a severe disciplinary action for violating the duty to comply with laws, the duty of diligence, and the duty to maintain confidentiality. It was reported that the disciplinary action imposed on former Commander Moon was dismissal.
Disciplinary actions for military personnel are classified into severe disciplinary measures such as dismissal, removal, demotion, and suspension, and minor disciplinary measures such as pay reduction, confinement, and reprimand. Former Commander Moon, along with former Defense Counterintelligence Command Chief Yeo Inhyeong and former Capital Defense Command Chief Lee Jinwoo, who previously received dismissal, is now subject to the highest level of disciplinary action.
