The Air Force announced that at approximately 2:36 p.m. on January 2, a T-50 trainer jet from the Gwangju base overturned during an emergency landing after its engine warning light turned on during a training flight.
The aircraft veered off the runway and overturned while landing at Gwangju base after completing its training flight.
There were two people on board the trainer jet: one instructor and one student pilot.
Both individuals are in good health with no significant external injuries and were transported to the hospital for a thorough medical examination.
While part of the runway is currently restricted for the accident investigation, Gwangju Civil Airport, which shares the runway with the Air Force, is operating normally.
The Air Force has established an accident response headquarters, headed by Deputy Chief of Staff Park Giwan, to determine the cause of the accident.
