Hallym University (President Choi Yanghee) held a New Year's greeting ceremony on January 2, 2026, at the on-campus student cafeteria to mark the beginning of the Year of the Fire Horse.

The event was attended by more than 400 people, including Heeseong Yoon, Chairman of the Ilsong Foundation, President Choi Yanghee, professors, and staff, who exchanged New Year's greetings and pledged to achieve new progress for the university in 2026.


Chairman Heeseong Yoon stated, "As 2026 is the 'Year of the Red Horse,' a time of change and leap forward, every member of Hallym should carefully consider the trends of the times," adding, "I hope we become not a defensive organization but a challenging one, and that we live up to the name 'Mighty Hallym' by making this year dynamic and bold."


In his New Year's address, President Choi Yanghee emphasized, "2026 marks the inaugural year for the full-scale launch of our university's long-term vision, the 'Hallym 2040' agenda," and urged, "Let us leap forward as a university that sets the standard for future education and become a global model for innovative universities."

He further presented the university's New Year's goals: to create a 'New Hallym' that surpasses yesterday's limits through relentless self-innovation, to become a 'respected university' that contributes to the local community, the nation, and humanity as a whole, and to be a 'university where members are happy,' where students, professors, and staff-the true owners of the university-feel pride and enjoy the joy of growth.
