Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City Delivers Congratulatory Message
Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on January 2 that, to celebrate the birth of the first baby of the Byeong-o year, officials visited the couple Lee Donggeun and Cheon Jeongyu to deliver a congratulatory message, while the Changwon City Women's Association presented a celebration gift of 1 million won.
The Changwon City Women's Association raised the 1 million won celebration gift from proceeds earned by operating food booths during the Chrysanthemum Festival. Since 2024, the association has been providing a 1 million won celebration gift to the family of the first baby born in the new year, and has been actively leading efforts to congratulate and support families with newborns, including those with triplets and multiple children.
The first baby of the new year in Changwon, nicknamed "Saessaki" (meaning "Sprout"), is the first daughter of Lee Donggeun and Cheon Jeongyu. She was born healthy at Changwon Hanmaeum Hospital in Uichang-gu at 4:02 a.m. on January 1, weighing 2.96 kg. The baby's parents said, "Although she arrived earlier than expected, we are grateful for her healthy and strong cry and love her very much. We also thank Changwon City and the Women's Association for their congratulations."
Park Youngrang, President of the Changwon City Women's Association, stated, "I sincerely congratulate the birth of Changwon's first baby of the new year and wish your family great joy and happiness. We will work together with the city to make Changwon a place where it is easy to have and raise children, and where families can smile together."
Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, "I sincerely congratulate you on the birth of Changwon's first baby. Changwon City will do its utmost to ease the burden of childbirth and childrearing, creating an environment where every child can be raised safely, with the belief that each child is the future of our community."
Meanwhile, Changwon City is implementing a variety of programs to support families with newborns, including the First Meeting Voucher, childbirth celebration gift, parental allowance, and child allowance.
