Korea South-East Power has pledged to make 2026 a year of advancement through strengthening its management fundamentals at its New Year's kick-off ceremony.
On January 2, Korea South-East Power held its 2026 New Year's ceremony at the main auditorium of its headquarters in Jinju, Gyeongnam, with President Kang Ki-yoon and around 300 executives and employees in attendance. Employees from all business sites watched the event via live broadcast on YouTube and video conferencing.
During the ceremony, President Kang Ki-yoon delivered a New Year's address, emphasizing, "Let us make this year a time to advance to the next level, based on solid fundamentals."
President Kang stated, "Last year, we achieved remarkable results thanks to the strength of 'United South-East,' making it a historic year. However, we still face many challenges ahead. It is now crucial to focus on strengthening our internal foundation and content, so that we can realize the '2024 Into the Future' vision we established last year."
He further stressed the need to "continuously and tirelessly pursue change with the spirit of 'ceaseless self-improvement (自强不息).' "
To this end, he highlighted five major tasks: normalizing irregular practices, nurturing talent suited for the era of convergence, establishing the first year of zero accidents and zero injuries, successfully carrying out the Samcheonpo Revival Project in preparation for the decommissioning of Samcheonpo, and accelerating the Namdong Energy New Road 2040 initiative.
President Kang Ki-yoon also stated, "This year, as issues such as the restructuring of public power generation companies are expected to be actively discussed, we must take the initiative and respond to change without leaving anyone behind. Let us unite labor and management, strengthen our fundamentals with unwavering passion and drive like a red horse, and lay the groundwork for becoming a 'Global No.1 Energy Company' this year."
