Significant Increase from Last Year’s 3.1 to 1 Competition Rate
Dong-Eui University (President Han Suhwan) recorded the highest competition rate in the past 10 years for its 2026 regular admissions.
As of December 31, after closing the 2026 freshman regular admissions, Dong-Eui University announced that 2,458 applicants competed for 312 spots (within the quota), resulting in a competition rate of 7.88 to 1.
This marks a significant increase compared to last year's competition rate of 3.1 to 1 (with 2,054 applicants for 662 spots), and is the highest competition rate for regular admissions in the past decade.
By admission group, the Ga group received 724 applicants for 73 spots, resulting in a 9.92 to 1 competition rate. The Na group had 864 applicants for 115 spots, with a 7.51 to 1 rate, and the Da group had 870 applicants for 124 spots, resulting in a 7.02 to 1 competition rate.
Looking at the competition rates by department, in the Ga group, the Smart Port Logistics Department had the highest rate, with 53 applicants for 2 spots, resulting in 26.5 to 1. The Mechanical Engineering Department had 18 applicants for 1 spot (18 to 1), and the Hotel Convention Management Department had 14 applicants for 1 spot (14 to 1), both showing high competition rates.
In the Na group, the Civil Engineering Department had the highest competition rate with 29 applicants for 1 spot (29 to 1), followed by the Child Studies Department with 36 applicants for 2 spots (18 to 1), and the Finance and Real Estate Department with 86 applicants for 5 spots (17.2 to 1).
For the Pre-Medicine (Korean Medicine) program, the Mathematics-Calculus/Geometry track had 68 applicants for 11 spots (6.18 to 1), while the Mathematics-Probability and Statistics track had 36 applicants for 3 spots (12 to 1).
In the Da group, the Management Information Systems Department had the highest competition rate with 23 applicants for 1 spot (23 to 1). The e-Business Department had 45 applicants for 3 spots, resulting in a 15 to 1 competition rate.
