Busan Port Authority: "First Cruise Ship Horn of the Year"
Traditional Markets and Local Businesses Energized
Busan Tourism Kicks Off
Which cruise ship made its first port call at Busan Port on New Year's Day, carrying over 2,200 passengers?
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sanggeun) announced on January 2 that the large cruise ship "Adora Magic City," operated by the Chinese cruise line Adora Cruise, entered the Yeongdo Cruise Terminal at Busan Port at 10 a.m. on January 1.
This arrival marks the first cruise ship entry of the new year at Busan Port in 2026, as well as the first Chinese cruise voyage of the year. It signals the official start of the new year for cruise operations at Busan Port.
The Adora Magic City is a large cruise ship with a gross tonnage of 135,500 tons, and over 2,200 passengers boarded for this voyage. The vessel operates on a route departing from Shanghai, stopping at Jeju and Busan, and then returning to Shanghai.
Cruise tourists arriving in Busan are scheduled to visit major tourist attractions and shopping destinations such as Jagalchi Market, Taejongdae, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, and Lotte Duty Free during their stay.
Chinese cruise tourists are known for their strong consumption tendencies, particularly in shopping and food and beverage. This port call is expected to have a tangible economic impact on local businesses, including traditional markets.
Song Sanggeun, President of Busan Port Authority, stated, "Thanks to the active collaboration of CIQ (Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine) agencies, the arrival of the Chinese cruise ship at Busan Port on New Year's Day proceeded smoothly," and emphasized, "We will support a satisfying travel experience for tourists visiting Busan by ensuring the smooth operation of cruise infrastructure."
