Starting the New Year with a Visit to the Memorial Tower

On the morning of the 2nd, Jeong Cheolwon, the mayor of Damyang County, delivered a New Year's address at the Byeongojeong Room of Damyang County Office in Jeollanam-do during the opening ceremony for the Year of the Fire Horse 2026. Provided by Damyang County

Damyang County ushered in the New Year of the Fire Horse 2026 by holding a series of events, including a visit to the Memorial Tower and an opening ceremony, officially setting sail toward a 'citizen-centered administration.'

According to Damyang County on January 2, Mayor Jeong Cheolwon, along with Jang Myeongyeong, Chairman of the Damyang County Council, county council members, Jeollanam-do council members, and senior officials, visited the Memorial Tower at Damyang Peace Art Plaza that morning to offer incense. In a solemn atmosphere, the attendees honored the spirit of sacrifice of the patriotic martyrs and pledged to work for the development of Damyang.

Following this, a breakfast meeting was held, featuring a traditional rice cake cutting ceremony and sharing of rice cake soup, wishing for 'Damyang's shared growth.' During this gathering, which aimed to promote communication and harmony among institutions, the participants exchanged New Year's greetings and resolved to work together for the well-being of the county's residents.

The official opening ceremony took place in the Byeongojeong Room at the county office, with all staff members in attendance.

The ceremony began with a pre-event performance, followed by a joint New Year's greeting and a 'pledge to practice integrity.' All public officials made a vow to foster a transparent public service, reaffirming their strong commitment to building a clean Damyang both internally and externally.

In his New Year's address, Mayor Jeong Cheolwon presented the core policies for county administration in the Year of the Fire Horse, stating, "In the new year, we will adhere strictly to principles and fundamentals in our administration," and emphasized, "We will focus all our efforts on achieving tangible results that allow both residents and public officials to truly experience happiness together."
