Seongnam City Holds New Year's Memorial Ceremony
at City Hall Park Memorial Tower

On January 2, Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province held a memorial ceremony at the City Hall Park Memorial Tower in Yeosu-dong, Jungwon District, to pledge New Year's resolutions.

This New Year's memorial ceremony at the City Hall Park Memorial Tower was the first New Year's event to be held since the tower, originally built in 1974 on a hill in Taepyeong 4-dong, Sujeong District, was relocated to its current location.

On this day, approximately 260 people, including Seongnam Mayor Shin Sangjin, the Vice Chairman of the Seongnam City Council, heads of veterans' organizations, and representatives of various institutions, paid tribute by laying flowers, offering incense, and observing a moment of silence in honor of the patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes who gave their lives for the nation.

Mayor Shin Sangjin stated, "I will deeply engrave the noble patriotism of the martyrs and fallen heroes who gave their lives for the country in my heart, and will carry out city administration this year with a spirit of Jeongboncheongwon (rectifying the root and clarifying the source). I will also establish the fundamentals of municipal operations and strengthen transparency and integrity throughout the administration."

At 10 a.m. on the same day, Seongnam City also held a New Year's kick-off ceremony at the Seongnam Arts Center Opera House in Yatap-dong, Bundang District.
