Jeongeup City began its first work of the 2026 Byeongo Year early in the morning by visiting sites related to citizens' livelihoods, demonstrating a strong commitment to 'citizen-centered, field-oriented' administration.

According to Jeongeup City on January 2, Mayor Lee Haksoo started the day before dawn by visiting the city bus depot, followed by the environmental management staff lounge, the agricultural wholesale market, and the Jeongeup Fire Station. Mayor Lee met with on-site workers while most people were still asleep, offering words of encouragement and New Year's greetings.

After completing the site visits, Mayor Lee and senior officials paid tribute at the Memorial Tower to honor the noble spirit of national patriots and fallen heroes. They then held the opening ceremony for the new year in the large conference room at City Hall and officially commenced their work.

In his New Year's address, Mayor Lee stated, "2026 will be a year of progress, bringing tangible and significant changes to the lives of our citizens." He added, "Despite challenging circumstances, let us unite as one team to achieve results that citizens can truly feel in their daily lives."

Notably, the opening ceremony featured a calligraphy performance embodying the dynamic spirit of the Byeongo Year. The brush calligraphy, delivering messages of hope and challenge, inspired energy and a sense of duty among the staff embarking on a new start.

A Jeongeup City official commented, "This year, we will prioritize the daily lives and safety of our citizens in all municipal affairs, and further strengthen our field-focused communication to concentrate administrative capabilities."
