New Year's Kick-off Ceremony Held on January 2
Targeting Senior and Foreign Customer Segments
Emphasis on Channel Innovation Including AI-Powered Service Desks
On January 2, Sung Hyuk Jung, President of Shinhan Bank, urged employees and executives to accelerate efforts to respond swiftly to change and prepare for the future.
At the New Year's kick-off ceremony held that morning at Shinhan Bank's headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, President Jung stated, "The boundaries of finance are collapsing, and competition is intensifying."
He emphasized that, with technological advancements represented by artificial intelligence (AI), the very definition of finance is being restructured. He highlighted the importance of expanding productive finance and inclusive finance, providing differentiated financial experiences, and preparing for the future at an organizational level.
He also announced that this year, the bank will focus on three main initiatives: fulfilling the fundamental role of finance, driving innovation for future competitiveness, and becoming a bank trusted by customers and society.
President Jung explained, "We need to proactively develop specialized solutions for future core customer groups such as seniors and foreigners, and enhance our business capabilities and resource efficiency through channel innovation, including AI-powered service desks." He also called for embedding the internal control system throughout the overall business culture and strengthening the financial consumer protection system with a focus on accident prevention.
In addition, President Jung cited the four-character idiom 'Jinseongwiji' (盡誠爲之, meaning 'one must devote oneself wholeheartedly to what must be done'), and added, "I will lead the journey of change to create finance for the future together."
