Eom Taehyun: "Let Us Achieve Stability and Progress in City Administration with the Spirit of 'Dongjugongje'"
On the morning of January 2, Yeongju City marked the beginning of the 2026 Byeongo Year with a visit to the Memorial Tower and a New Year's kick-off ceremony, pledging stable city administration and a new leap forward.
At 8:30 a.m. that day, Eom Taehyun, Acting Mayor of Yeongju City, along with Kim Byeonggi, Chairperson of the Yeongju City Council, city council members, Im Byeongha, Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly member, representatives of veterans’ organizations, and senior city officials, visited the Memorial Tower to honor the noble sacrifice of the patriotic martyrs and those who died for the country, commencing the first official schedule of the New Year. The memorial ceremony was held in a solemn and reverent atmosphere, wishing for the development of Yeongju City and the well-being of its citizens.
At 9:30 a.m., a New Year's kick-off ceremony was held in the city hall auditorium, attended by about 200 public officials, marking the first working day of 2026. The ceremony began with a Samulnori performance by the Sobaek Pungmul Troupe, energizing the participants and signaling a vibrant start to the Byeongo Year.
In his New Year's address, Eom Taehyun, Acting Mayor of Yeongju City, expressed, "I hope the new year will be one of hope and progress, where everyone's wishes come true," and urged, "Even in difficult circumstances, let us all do our best in our respective positions with a renewed commitment to Yeongju's development, embracing the spirit of 'Dongjugongje'-overcoming crises by helping and cooperating with one another."
Yeongju City plans to use this event as an opportunity to secure continuity and stability in city administration, and to steadily advance key issues for citizen-centered governance and regional development.
