Applying 3D Technology to Robotics and Digital Twin
Collaboration with Nvidia Since 2022... Attracting Interest from Major Corporations
"As we move into the era of physical AI, where physical properties are embedded, abundant data is essential. Ndotlight provides the 3D data required for robot learning in simulation environments and helps ensure that these systems function seamlessly in the real world."
Founded in 2020, Ndotlight began by developing 3D design software based on artificial intelligence (AI) technology and has since expanded its business to producing 3D data used in manufacturing and robotics.
Kim Seontae, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Ndotlight, said in a recent interview with The Asia Business Daily, "As demand for simulation data needed for interactions between robots and objects increases, we are receiving inquiries from various companies." Kim CTO has accumulated experience and expertise in 3D graphics and AI technology at companies such as Samsung Electronics and Naver.
At the 'NVIDIA AI Day' held in Seoul last November, Ndotlight presented a case of collaboration that combined its technology with NVIDIA's platform. Ndotlight provided training 3D data to the humanoid robotics company 'Holiday Robotics,' enabling robots to perform actions such as folding and unfolding collapsible boxes. NVIDIA's AI platform and technical support played a crucial role in this process.
Since 2022, Ndotlight has been part of the NVIDIA Inception program, continuing steady collaboration. In the 'N-Up Program,' a startup growth initiative by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and NVIDIA, Ndotlight was recognized for its marketability, technological capability, and business development potential, advancing to the second stage (market expansion). Kim CTO said, "Through our partnership with NVIDIA, we have advanced our products, gained promotional benefits by participating in global events, and secured sales opportunities."
Major corporations seeking to automate and unmanned their manufacturing sites using digital twin technology are also expressing strong interest in Ndotlight. Kim CTO stated, "Large companies are preparing for 'dark factories' that operate without human intervention," and added, "We are generating the 3D data needed for the digital twin process, which replicates real environments in virtual settings."
With an increasing number of contracts with large corporations, Ndotlight's revenue in 2025 grew fivefold compared to the previous year. This year, the company is making a full-fledged push into overseas markets. Kim CTO said, "With the Japanese government recently implementing a sweeping policy to promote AI adoption in the private sector, demand for data is expected to rise. We plan to establish a Japanese subsidiary this year and focus our efforts on targeting Japanese manufacturing companies."
