Jongno-gu to Hold New Year's Gathering at Seoul Arts High School on January 6

Touring All 17 Neighborhoods Starting January 23

Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Chung Moonhun) will hold the "2026 Jongno-gu New Year's Gathering" at 3:00 p.m. on January 6 at the Doam Hall of Seoul Arts High School (70 Pyeongchangmunhwa-ro). This event serves as a platform for communication, bringing together guests from various fields and local residents to share visions and hopes for the new year.

The event will begin at 2:30 p.m. with a welcoming of residents. As a pre-event performance, the Seoul Arts High School Orchestra will play the theme from the movie Star Wars. After the official opening at 3:00 p.m., the program will proceed with a screening of a video featuring residents’ New Year wishes, a New Year’s address by District Mayor Chung Moonhun, congratulatory remarks from guests, and a commemorative photo session.

The congratulatory performances will be presented by local students. A samulnori troupe, consisting of students from Gyodong, Unhyeon, and Jaedong Elementary Schools who participate in the Small School Integrated After-School Program, will perform the Utdari Samulnori. Students from the Musical Theater Department of Seoil Arts High School will stage a performance from the musical "Fame."

Jongno-gu will expand its district vision into the community. From January 23 to February 11, New Year's gatherings will be held in all 17 neighborhoods. At these events, District Mayor Chung Moonhun will deliver New Year’s greetings and engage in in-depth discussions with residents about local development. The direction of district administration and major projects for this year will also be explained.

District Mayor Chung Moonhun stated, "With the energy of the red horse in the Year of Byeongo, I will focus on continuing the Jongno Modern legacy to create a community of coexistence and mutual prosperity in Jongno," adding, "I will do my utmost every day to make Jongno a better place and to build a more advanced community."
