14,616 Apply for Chung-Ang University Regular Admissions

High Competition Draws Strong Applicant Interest

Chung-Ang University announced on January 5 that, after closing applications for the 2026 regular admissions, a total of 14,616 applicants had applied for 2,110 available spots (within the quota), resulting in a competition rate of 6.93 to 1.

By admission group, the competition rates were as follows: Group A had 3,010 applicants for 627 spots, recording a rate of 4.80 to 1; Group B had 2,772 applicants for 647 spots, resulting in a rate of 4.28 to 1; and Group C had 5,155 applicants for 447 spots, with a rate of 11.53 to 1.


In particular, within the natural sciences, the newly established Department of Intelligent Semiconductor Engineering drew attention with a high competition rate of 9.40 to 1. This is seen as reflecting strong interest from applicants in both the cultivation of semiconductor specialists and the full four-year scholarships awarded to all admitted students.


Other competition rates in the natural sciences were as follows: the School of Software recorded 12.04 to 1, followed by the College of Creative ICT Engineering at 10.03 to 1, the Department of Urban Systems Engineering within the School of Social Infrastructure Systems Engineering at 9.18 to 1, the Department of Systems Biotechnology at 8.39 to 1, and the Department of Animal Biotechnology within the School of Bioresource Sciences at 7.16 to 1.


In the humanities, the Business Administration major within the School of Business Administration recorded the highest competition rate at 12.41 to 1, followed by the Chinese Language and Literature major within the School of Asian Culture at 7.36 to 1, the Department of Early Childhood Education at 7.30 to 1, and the Advertising and Public Relations major within the School of Advertising and Public Relations at 6.37 to 1.


Lee Sangmyung, Dean of Admissions, stated, "The high competition rate for the Department of Intelligent Semiconductor Engineering, which recruited new students for the first time this year, demonstrates the strong demand among students for advanced industrial fields." He added, "Applicants also showed balanced interest across various majors in both the humanities and natural sciences."


President Park Sangkyu said, "As a research-oriented university, Chung-Ang University is committed to improving the educational environment and nurturing talent. We will do our utmost to ensure that all applicants can grow into future leaders of Chung-Ang University through a fair selection process."
