Greenhouse Installed Over Jogging Track
Bridging the Gap in Winter Sports Activities
Uijeongbu Urban Corporation in Gyeonggi Province has installed a greenhouse over the jogging track at the main stadium of Uijeongbu Sports Complex to address restrictions on the use of sports facilities caused by winter weather conditions. The "vinyl track" will be available from January 2 to February 18. This initiative aims to ensure that all citizens can safely and continuously participate in sports activities throughout the winter season.
The vinyl track is set up in the form of a greenhouse over the six-lane, 400-meter jogging track within the main stadium, providing an environment where sports activities remain possible even during cold snaps. The lanes are designated as follows: lanes 1 and 2 are reserved for elite athletes, lanes 3 and 4 are for running, and lanes 5 and 6 are for walking. This separation helps prevent collisions among users and creates a safe and comfortable environment. For added convenience, a waiting room has been installed, and basic amenities such as hangers, chairs, and artificial turf mats are also provided.
Kim Jangho, Acting President of Uijeongbu Urban Corporation, stated, "We expect that operating the vinyl track will guarantee opportunities for citizens to participate in sports activities even during the winter, and will help increase the utilization rate of sports facilities. We will continue to develop various operational plans to promote public health and ensure the efficient use of public sports facilities."
