A teenage male has been apprehended on charges of injuring two people with a weapon in Gwanak-gu, Seoul.
According to the police on January 1, the Seoul Gwanak Police Station arrested a 17-year-old male, referred to as A, on suspicion of attempted murder and is investigating the exact motive behind the crime. A is accused of wielding a weapon at the entrance of Mugunghwa Children's Park in Gwanak-gu at around 2:30 p.m. that day, injuring a 79-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man.
The victims sustained injuries to the head and wrist, respectively, and were transported to the hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A fled the scene but was apprehended approximately 30 minutes after the report, at around 3:05 p.m., about 150 meters from the crime scene.
The police will decide whether to request an arrest warrant for A after completing the investigation.
