The first sunrise of 2026, rising above the East Sea horizon, united Uljin as one.

The sunrise event featured a percussion performance and a singer's concert under the theme "The Sound That Opens the New Year's Morning," energetically marking the start of the new year. From early dawn, residents and visitors gathered at the venue, enjoying the performances together and sharing their hopes and expectations for the year ahead.

Following the performances, a Daljip burning ceremony was held, where participants attached their written wishes to the bonfire, each praying for peace in the new year and the development of the region. At the moment the sun rose, everyone shared a meaningful time together, watching the first sunrise of the year.

After sunrise, a sharing event featuring traditional New Year's foods such as tteokguk (rice cake soup) took place, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere despite the cold weather. In addition, sunrise events were held at major sunrise spots in each town and township throughout Uljin, filling the entire region with the spirit of the new year.

Additionally, at the New Year's Eve bell-ringing ceremony held on December 31 of last year, performances, the delivery of New Year's messages, and a spectacular fireworks display captivated the audience, while the sharing of warm snacks added to the heartwarming year-end ambiance.

An official from Uljin County stated, "This was a meaningful event where residents and tourists came together on the first day of the new year to share hope. We wish health and happiness to all families who participated in the sunrise event to welcome 2026, and hope that laughter and warmth will continue to fill a vibrant Uljin."
