Traditional Percussion Parade and Horse Mascot Photo Zone Featured
On the morning of January 1, Jungnang District in Seoul held the "2026 Jungnang New Year's Sunrise Event" at the summit of Bonghwasan Mountain. Despite the cold weather, many residents participated to witness the first sunrise of the new year. Prior to the main event, there was a traditional Korean percussion parade celebrating the sunrise and a daegeum (bamboo flute) performance by the Jungnang Korean Traditional Music Association.

At the venue, a photo zone featuring a horse mascot costume was set up to commemorate the Year of the Byeongo, and a warm traditional tea-sharing event was also held. As the first sunrise appeared, a banner drop performance took place, and participants chanted cheers and exchanged well-wishes, praying for peace in the new year.
Ryu Kyunggi, Mayor of Jungnang District, also greeted residents at the event and spent time communicating with them. Mayor Ryu said, "In the new year, I hope every household among the 400,000 residents of Jungnang District is filled with health and happiness. I will continue to listen to the voices of our residents on site and work to make Jungnang District an even better place to live."
