Park Jungwon, Chairman of Doosan Group, emphasized in his 2026 New Year's address, "Let us accelerate our company-wide efforts toward AI Transformation (AX·AI Transformation)." Chairman Park stated, "Companies equipped with 'AI-based competitiveness' and those without it will soon find themselves on completely different trajectories." He urged the company to pursue rapid AX implementation to drive the intelligence of existing products, create new business models, and expand the portfolio.
In this year's address, Chairman Park expressed his gratitude to all employees for their dedication in achieving results and strengthening competitiveness despite last year's challenging business environment. He particularly highlighted the remarkable achievements of Doosan Enerbility, which secured its first order in the United States-the home of gas turbines-using its independently developed gas turbine, and the Electronics BG, which achieved record-breaking results by expanding orders from global big tech clients.
Regarding this year's business environment, Chairman Park forecasted that uncertainty would persist due to ongoing risks such as trade disputes, trade barriers, geopolitical conflicts, and policy changes in major countries. He described this as the "normalization of uncertainty." He also noted that the impact of AI on the overall economy is difficult to predict, stating, "Even in times of uncertainty, the one unchanging formula for success is that opportunity comes to those who are prepared," and shared his advice accordingly.
Chairman Park said, "In areas such as electronic materials and gas turbines, which have been recognized in the global market, we must have confidence in our technological capabilities, widen the gap with competitors, and strive to secure additional customers," calling for the maintenance of technological leadership in core businesses and further market expansion. He also stressed the need to proactively seize opportunities in large-scale nuclear power plants, small modular reactors (SMRs), and hydrogen fuel cells, which are gaining attention as energy sources to support power demand in the AI era.
In addition, he stated, "If growth is difficult with only existing resources, we must quickly devise and implement supplementary measures, including seeking opportunities externally," urging the company to continuously consider inorganic growth strategies that can create synergy with existing businesses.
Chairman Park also predicted the full-scale arrival of the "Physical AI" era, saying, "Doosan possesses world-class manufacturing capabilities and vast hardware data in areas such as power generation equipment, construction machinery, and robotics, giving us strengths to lead the Physical AI era." He added, "Through rapid AX implementation, let us not only enhance the intelligence of existing products but also pursue new business models and portfolio expansion."
Furthermore, regarding the direction for strengthening competitiveness during this era of AI transformation, Chairman Park said, "All members must develop a mindset suited for the new era and build AI utilization capabilities." He promised to actively support the enhancement of employees' AI competencies through customized training for each role, innovation of work processes, and the development of AI agents.
In closing, Chairman Park stated, "The experience we have accumulated through numerous major transformations over more than a century is an asset that no one else possesses." He continued, "Let us build a new era of success by combining Doosan's 130-year legacy with a startup-like spirit of challenge."
