Elon Musk Tops Both Total Net Worth and Wealth Growth

In 2025, the world's richest person was Elon Musk.


The British daily The Guardian reported on December 31, citing the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, that the combined wealth of the world's 500 richest people reached $11.9 trillion (approximately 17,200 trillion won) by the end of 2025. In just one year, their collective wealth increased by $2.2 trillion (about 3,200 trillion won).


Among them, the world's richest person was Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, with a total net worth of $623 billion. He also ranked first in wealth growth, with an increase of $190 billion.

Larry Page, co-founder of Google, ranked second both in total net worth ($270 billion) and in wealth growth ($101 billion).


Jeff Bezos, Chairman of Amazon ($255 billion); Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google ($251 billion); Larry Ellison, Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of Oracle ($250 billion); and Mark Zuckerberg, Chairman and CEO of Meta ($235 billion), followed. The top six were all founders of major tech companies.


The Guardian cited several factors contributing to the increase in the wealth of the rich, including the election of Donald Trump as U.S. President in 2024, as well as booming cryptocurrency, stock, and metals markets.
