Full Implementation of Integrated Care and Other Key Initiatives

Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin District in Seoul, announced in his New Year's address that the district will steadily advance key regional hub projects this year, including the modernization of the Dong Seoul Terminal and the restructuring of Children's Grand Park.

In his address on January 1, Mayor Kim stated, "Gwangjin District will continue to work vigorously in 2026 to ensure a healthy and happy daily life for our residents," and outlined plans for major initiatives.

In the field of residential improvement, the district will support residents participating in the Rapid Integrated Planning and Moa Town projects by holding community briefings and providing customized consultations.

For regional hub projects, the district will fully implement the Dong Seoul Terminal modernization project, which was developed through communication with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, project operators, and local residents. The district will also lay the groundwork for an urban space restructuring project to transform Children's Grand Park into the "Central Park of Seoul." The Jayang 5 Redevelopment Promotion Zone, which is being resumed after seven years, will be developed into a residential complex featuring a municipal children's hospital and a small library.

In the welfare sector, the district will stably implement the Integrated Care Support Project, which will be fully launched this year, to help residents maintain a healthy daily life in their own neighborhoods. The district will also provide job counseling and employment competency training for financially vulnerable residents and young people, and expand public job opportunities. In addition, illegal street vendors near Gangbyeon Station and Konkuk University Station will be addressed to secure pedestrian rights, and systematic improvements will be made to the walking environment for children, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Mayor Kim cited last year's achievements, including the completion of the new district office relocation, earning the highest grade for comprehensive integrity from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission for three consecutive years, and ranking second overall among 25 autonomous districts in the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Life Satisfaction Index survey.
