As dawn breaks and the East Sea turns crimson, a tourist train races along the rails, seemingly competing with the waves.

Uljin County has introduced a unique sunrise tourism product to attract tourists from the Seoul metropolitan area for the New Year of Byeongo in 2026.

Uljin County has introduced a unique sunrise tourism product to attract tourists from the Seoul metropolitan area for the New Year of Byeong-O in 2026 (Uljin Station).

Uljin County will operate both the "Gugak Wine Train," which is linked to the Mangyangjeong Sunrise event, and the "Yacht Sunrise Theme Product," where visitors can watch the sunrise over the East Sea. Both products are designed as stay-type programs that combine train rides, accommodation, and sightseeing, aiming to enhance Uljin’s appeal as a winter tourism city on the East Coast.

The county, in cooperation with KORAIL Tourism Development, will run a special "Mangyangjeong Sunrise Gugak Wine Train" operating between Seoul and Uljin from December 31, 2025, to January 1, 2026. The train departs from Seoul on the morning of December 31 and travels to Uljin, returning to Seoul from Uljin on the afternoon of January 1, making it a two-day, one-night itinerary.

In addition, a "Two-Day, One-Night Yacht Sunrise Theme Product," where participants can watch the sunrise off the coast of Uljin, will also be offered. This package combines accommodation and meals in Uljin, a schedule linked to Mangyangjeong and nearby tourist attractions, and a yacht sunrise experience, making it a unique way to celebrate the New Year.

Participants in the yacht sunrise package will head out to the sea off Uljin at dawn to watch the sunrise over the horizon, and can enjoy services such as light snacks, beverages, and commemorative photos. The program also includes visits to major tourist attractions in Uljin, such as Seongnyugul Cave, Wangpicheon Park, Mangyangjeong, and Deungisan Park, making it a well-rounded itinerary.

An official from Uljin County stated, "Through the Gugak Wine Train and Yacht Sunrise Theme Product, we will systematically expand sunrise tourism content that organically combines Uljin’s sea, mountains, railway, and marine infrastructure," adding, "We will continue to develop differentiated stay-type products to further solidify Uljin’s status and brand value as a leading sunrise tourism destination on the East Coast."
