Daegu Office of Education Recruiting Multilingual Support Staff to Assist Students from Migrant Backgrounds... 17 Languages Including Arabic

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education’s Daegu Global Citizenship Education Center announced on December 31 that it will be recruiting personnel for the “2026 Multilingual Customized Support Team” to help students from migrant backgrounds adapt to their studies and school life.


The recruitment is open to speakers of 17 languages, including English, as well as other special languages. Applicants can choose one or more of the three program areas: bilingual tutoring, interpretation mentoring, and translation/callback services. The 17 languages are English, German, Russian, Mongolian, Vietnamese, Sinhala, Spanish, Arabic, Urdu, Uzbek, Japanese, Chinese, Khmer, Thai, Turkish, French, and Filipino.

Eligible applicants must be proficient in Korean, legally reside in the Republic of Korea, and be able to engage in economic activities. They must also have no disqualifications under Article 31 of the Local Public Officials Act.


Additionally, applicants must be able to accurately convey the meaning of both the translation/interpretation language and Korean, based on an understanding of multiculturalism. Those applying for the bilingual tutor role will be given preference if they have experience in bilingual education or hold a Korean language teaching certificate.


Those wishing to be listed in the talent pool can download the application form from the websites of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education or the Daegu Global Citizenship Education Center from January 2 to January 16. After completing the form, they must submit it in person or by mail to the Center’s Education Support Office (Room 210).


Applicants who meet the qualifications will be registered in the “2026 Multilingual Customized Support Talent Pool,” and final results will be individually notified by text message on February 6.


Currently, the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education has 194 support personnel who speak 17 languages, including English and Arabic, assisting students from migrant backgrounds.


Daegu Superintendent Kang Eunhee stated, “We look forward to the active participation of many people with multilingual skills and rich teaching experience so that students from migrant backgrounds can adapt well to school life and achieve academic success.”
