Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province has been selected as an 'Outstanding Local Government for Issuing Local Love Gift Certificates' by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing a special grant of 400 million won.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety evaluates 192 local governments that issue Local Love Gift Certificates, comprehensively assessing their issuance performance before the allocation of national funding (from January to April 2025) and after the second supplementary national funding (from September to October). Incentives are awarded to outstanding local governments based on these results.
To boost the local economy, Suwon City allocated the largest-ever budget for Suwon Pay incentives this year. The recharge limit was raised from 300,000 won to 500,000 won, and the incentive rate was increased to 10%. In January and October, which include the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, the incentive rate was further raised to 20%.
A Suwon City official stated, "This year, we issued Suwon Pay at a record scale of 460 billion won and expanded the incentive rates, accelerating efforts to revitalize the local economy. We will continue to implement policies that can breathe new life into local commercial districts."
