It has been found that divorced men and women who are dating with the intention of remarriage interpret each other's expressions of affection in significantly different ways.

On the 29th, Only-You, a matchmaking agency specializing in remarriage, announced the results of a survey conducted jointly with the matchmaking firm Bienarae. The survey targeted 538 divorced men and women (269 men and 269 women).

When asked, "Under what circumstances is kissing acceptable in a remarriage relationship?" 32.7% of male respondents answered, "If I don't dislike it," while 34.2% of female respondents chose, "When I feel trust." For men, the next most common answers were "When I feel trust" (29.0%) and "When I intend to remarry" (22.3%). For women, the order was "When I intend to remarry" (30.8%) and "If I don't dislike it" (21.6%).

There was also a clear gender difference in perceptions of how to express affection. Among men, 28.6% cited "linking arms" as the highest level of expressing affection, while 30.1% of women chose "sharing a straw" as the strongest signal of affection.

For men, the next most common answers after "linking arms" were "sharing a straw" (25.6%), "going to karaoke together, just the two of us" (20.1%), and "accepting an invitation to one's home" (18.6%). For women, the order was "linking arms" (25.3%), "accepting an invitation to one's home" (20.8%), and "going to karaoke together, just the two of us" (17.1%).

An Only-You representative explained, "In remarriage relationships, it is common for couples to break up due to disagreements over physical affection," adding, "This is because men tend to rush physical intimacy, whereas women are generally more conservative."
