The Korea Arboretum and Garden Management Corporation (Korea Arboretum and Garden Management Corporation, hereafter KAGMC) announced on the 30th that it had received the grand prize in the K-ESG Implementation Evaluation category at the 3rd Korea Public ESG Management Awards, hosted by the Korea Public ESG Institute and organized by the office of National Assembly member Lee Soyoung.

The Korea Public ESG Institute annually conducts a comprehensive evaluation of the K-ESG implementation level and the degree of ESG management integration among public enterprises, quasi-governmental institutions, and other public organizations, selecting outstanding institutions based on these results.

This year, KAGMC was highly rated in the K-ESG Implementation Evaluation for its achievements in biodiversity conservation within the environmental (E) sector, its foundational policy initiatives for climate crisis response in arboretums and gardens, and its efforts to create social value through partnerships with the private sector.

In particular, the use of seed balls for forest ecosystem restoration in areas affected by wildfires and the implementation of public participation forest restoration campaigns were recognized as exemplary cases where the unique functions of a public institution were linked with ESG management to achieve environmental and social outcomes.

Shim Sangtaek, Chairman of KAGMC, stated, "Winning the grand prize in the K-ESG Implementation Evaluation is an objective recognition of KAGMC's ESG management efforts," adding, "KAGMC will continue to advance a management system that meets K-ESG standards and take a leading role in public sector ESG management by creating ESG value tailored to the unique characteristics of the arboretum and garden sector."
