120 Issues Identified in Government Joint Inspection
89 Safety-Related Items Already Resolved
Remaining 30 to Be Addressed by March Next Year
The Hangang Bus plans to resume full operation across all sections in January next year after addressing the issues pointed out during the government joint inspection.
On December 30, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it had addressed the issues identified during the joint inspection of Hangang Bus safety management, which was led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The joint inspection was conducted from November 21 to 26. The city submitted its implementation plan and results for all 120 identified issues to the ministry.

Of the total 120 issues (28 regulatory violations, 39 cases of inadequate maintenance, and 53 improvement recommendations), 89 have been resolved (21 regulatory violations, 23 inadequate maintenance cases, and 45 improvement recommendations), while 30 are scheduled to be addressed by March next year. The remaining one issue is planned to be resolved by the end of next year.
Among the issues related to the docks, a total of 28 unresolved items will be addressed by the end of March next year using the following year's budget. These include raising and adjusting the spacing of dock railings.
In the navigation route and emergency response category, two improvement recommendations involve installing additional pier lights and changing the flashing method of bridge lights. These are also scheduled to be completed by the end of March next year.
Additionally, the city has established its own measures to ensure operational safety, in addition to addressing the government’s recommendations. After a final navigation route inspection, the Hangang Bus is expected to resume full operation across all sections in January next year.
To ensure operational safety, the city is carrying out precise depth surveys and dredging of navigation routes, improving buoys in shallow areas, and establishing a system to prevent deviation from routes.
Park Jinyoung, Head of the Future Hangang Headquarters at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, stated, "We will address the remaining supplementary items as planned, resume full operation of the Hangang Bus across all sections in January next year, and create a water transportation environment where citizens can feel even safer."
