On December 30, Doosan Construction announced that it had won the contracts for the "Southern Inland Railway (Gimcheon~Geoje) Construction Project Section 8-1 Subgrade Construction and Other Works" and the "Namgang Dam (Ⅰ) Wide-Area Water Supply Pipeline Renovation Project Section 1," commissioned by Korea Water Resources Corporation.
The Section 8-1 of the Southern Inland Railway (Gimcheon~Geoje), awarded on December 29, is a large-scale high-speed railway project stretching 174.6 kilometers from Gimcheon in North Gyeongsang Province to Geoje in South Gyeongsang Province, with a total project cost of 7.0974 trillion won. Doosan Construction will be responsible for the section passing through Goseong-gun, South Gyeongsang Province. This route is designed for a speed of 250 km/h, and once the entire line is open, the travel time between Seoul and Geoje will be reduced to about 2 hours and 30 minutes. The project is expected to contribute to the expansion of the southern region's railway network and to balanced regional development.
Section 8-1 is a technically demanding project, with 11.28 kilometers (across three locations) of its total 12.28 kilometers consisting of tunnels. Out of the total construction cost of 261.2 billion won, Doosan Construction's share amounts to 208.9 billion won. The construction period is 72 months from the start date. Doosan Construction plans to leverage its experience in projects such as the Gyeongbu High-Speed Railway, Honam High-Speed Railway, and Suseo~Pyeongtaek SRT, as well as its accumulated expertise in tunnel construction, to ensure stable project execution.

Doosan Construction was also awarded the "Namgang Dam Wide-Area Water Supply Pipeline Renovation Project Section 1" by Korea Water Resources Corporation on December 26. This project aims to establish a stable water supply system for Jinju, Sacheon, and Tongyeong cities, as well as Goseong-gun in South Gyeongsang Province, by installing replacement pipelines, renovating aged pipelines, and relocating pipelines in the Namgang Dam water supply system, which has been in use for over 36 years since installation.
The total construction cost is 126.7 billion won, with Doosan Construction's share amounting to 59.9 billion won. The construction period is 52 months from the start date. With this contract, Doosan Construction has once again demonstrated its technological capabilities and competitiveness in the water resources sector.
Doosan Construction has built a balanced order portfolio in public infrastructure sectors such as railways, subways, and power transmission tunnels. Recently, the company has further strengthened its position in the public civil engineering sector by consecutively winning large-scale infrastructure projects, including the "Nongso~Gangdong Road Construction Project" and the "154kV Namchuncheon~Chuncheon Power Transmission Tunnel Project."
Doosan Construction stated, "By consecutively winning these large-scale railway and water infrastructure projects, we have once again proven our competitiveness in the public civil engineering sector. Moving forward, we will continue to contribute to the expansion of social infrastructure by prioritizing quality and safety in construction, leveraging our accumulated technological expertise and construction experience."
