This city master plan is being established by analyzing current issues and urban conditions in Uijeongbu City, with a focus on strategies that enable proactive responses to future changes.
The main directions include: ▲ a future-oriented Uijeongbu-specific issue response plan ▲ urban space restructuring to serve as a central city in northern Gyeonggi Province ▲ realization of a sustainable city by applying the 'N-minute city' concept ▲ and spatial development to build a foundation for sustainable new growth industries.
Recognizing that the city master plan is the highest-level spatial plan for the city, the city government plans to establish the city's future vision and strategic goals together with citizen participation. To this end, from January to March 2026, the city will recruit and operate a 'Citizen Planning Group for Urban Policy' (an unpaid honorary position) consisting of about 60 members.

Mayor Kim Donggeun stated, "This city master plan is an important opportunity to envision what Uijeongbu City will look like in 20 years," adding, "Uijeongbu City will do its utmost to transform the urban structure to establish a foundation for new growth and self-sufficiency and to expand quality jobs, so that we can grow into both a central city in northern Gyeonggi Province and a self-sufficient city."
