Gwangjin District in Seoul (Mayor Kim Kyungho) has announced its top 10 outstanding projects as it enters the fourth year of the 8th popularly elected administration. From November 1 to November 16 of last year, the district conducted a survey through Gallup Korea, targeting 1,000 residents aged 18 or older. Out of 20 major policies promoted under the 8th administration, 10 projects were selected for their contributions to regional development and welfare improvement.

The "2040 Gwangjin Re-Creation Plan" ranked first. The area available for redevelopment in Gwangjin District increased 90-fold, from 30,000 square meters to 2.71 million square meters, and the commercial area expanded by 55,000 square meters. The relocation of the Gwangjin District Office and the redevelopment of the Jayang 1 Urban Renewal Promotion Zone have been completed. The ban on apartment construction around Junggok Station was lifted, and the height restriction was raised from 20 meters to 70 meters.

The "Illegal Street Vendor Regulation" project came in second. For decades, illegal street vendors in the areas surrounding Konkuk University Station, Guui Station, and Gangbyeon Station caused inconvenience and safety issues for pedestrians. The district held dozens of discussions with street vendors, encouraging voluntary compliance, and carried out administrative enforcement in cases of non-compliance.

The "Six-Day Household Waste Collection System" ranked third. The collection schedule was expanded from three days a week to six, improving convenience for residents. This was selected as the top example of proactive administration by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

"Achasan Mountain and Other Park Facility Improvements" ranked fourth, while "Expansion of Parking Facilities" ranked fifth. Starting with 27 spaces on Yeongdonggyo Traditional Market Street in 2023, the district created more than 1,000 parking spaces in total, including 81 spaces at the Guui 2-dong Complex Office and 94 spaces at Baenamuteo Park in Junggok 3-dong. Other notable achievements included improvements to the traffic system such as expanding U-turn zones, enhancing welfare for seniors, implementing youth policies, job creation initiatives, and promoting community sports.

Mayor Kim Kyungho stated, "Through continuous communication and cooperation with our residents, we have been able to resolve long-standing challenges one by one," adding, "I will continue to listen attentively to each and every resident and strive to learn and improve."
