Achievements in Customized On-Site Infection Control Improvement
Comprehensive Evaluation Across 10 Areas, Outstanding Results
Gijang County (Governor Jeong Jongbok) announced that a local elderly care facility was selected as the "Best Institution" in the "2025 Field Consulting Project for Infection-Prone Facilities," organized by the city of Busan.
This project was initiated by Busan to assess the level of infection control in facilities vulnerable to infections, strengthen infection prevention capabilities, and establish a systematic disease control framework through on-site, tailored consulting.
The consulting process was conducted based on objective data, including on-site inspection checklists and before-and-after improvement reports. The evaluation comprehensively assessed improvements across 10 areas and more than 80 detailed items, such as the establishment of an infection control system, staff training, management of residents and visitors, and hand hygiene management.
As a result, the elderly care facility in Gijang County demonstrated outstanding improvements in overall infection control indicators and was selected as the "Best Institution." The stable establishment of its infection control system and its strong focus on field-based practices were highly praised.
Governor Jeong Jongbok stated, "This achievement is the result of Gijang County and local care institutions recognizing the importance of infection control and actively working together to make improvements. We will continue to cooperate with relevant institutions so that facilities vulnerable to infections can develop autonomous infection prevention capabilities."
The Gijang County Public Health Center plans to share this exemplary consulting case with infection-prone facilities in the area and will continue to implement follow-up measures to improve infection control standards, including strengthening field-oriented support.
