On this day, Chairman Kim visited the Online Damage 365 Center and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) Seoul Branch to inspect their operations and listen to feedback from the field. This was his first on-site visit since taking office, and he chose to visit the two agencies that serve as counseling helpers for various damages experienced by the public while using online services.
Since its opening in 2022, the Online Damage 365 Center has supported more than 10,000 online damage counseling cases. It deals with cyber financial crimes such as phishing and smishing, illegal spam, damages related to goods and services such as non-delivery of products or quality complaints, and rights violations such as infringement of portrait rights and false reviews.
Chairman Kim listened to major support cases at the Online Damage 365 Center and sought ways to strengthen its support functions.
At the KISA Seoul Branch, he reviewed the status of illegal spam related to major hacking incidents involving mobile carriers and personal information leakage cases that occurred this year. He also received briefings on the artificial intelligence-based illegal spam filtering services currently provided by the three mobile carriers and Samsung Electronics.
Chairman Kim reviewed the cooperation system for responding to illegal spam and requested, "As a professional information security agency, please do your utmost to ensure that people can enjoy a safe and peaceful daily life, free from illegal spam."
He emphasized, "We must protect the public from online service damages and illegal spam by responding comprehensively to the complex and diverse incidents and accidents in the digital environment," adding, "In particular, as personal information leakage incidents continue to occur, a prompt response is crucial."
He further stated, "We will continue to strengthen prevention and support for new types of damage by expanding communication and cooperation with relevant agencies and experts, establishing a legal foundation, and increasing personnel and organizational capacity."
