The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education signed a business agreement on the 29th with Danggeun Market Co., Ltd., a local community platform, to promote the recruitment of education support staff and substitute personnel for schools.
This agreement aims to address the ongoing shortage of cafeteria kitchen staff in schools.
Through this agreement, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has become the first in the nation to utilize Danggeun Market not only for regular recruitment of new education support staff, but also for hiring substitute personnel (both fixed-term and short-term) needed in schools.
Previously, job seekers had to search for recruitment information through websites or bulletin board postings. By leveraging Danggeun Market, recruitment information for nearby schools can now be delivered in real time via smartphone notifications, allowing for more proactive applications.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education plans to conduct a pilot program in regions with high vacancy rates and expand the initiative to all areas of Gyeonggi Province in the first half of next year.
An official from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education stated, "With repeated concerns about disruptions to meal service due to vacancies, the traditional announcement methods have limitations in filling staffing gaps. Real-time dissemination of recruitment information through Danggeun Market is expected to be a key solution to reducing blind spots in publicity, lowering vacancy rates, and providing practical help in alleviating staffing shortages at schools."
As of March this year, there were 319 cafeteria staff vacancies in Gyeonggi Province schools, and 281 as of September. In particular, following the solidarity union's collective agreement in August, the demand for substitute education support staff has surged due to the strengthening of vacation rights for these employees.
