Gwanggyo Techno Valley Bio Site in Suwon to Be Developed into 16-Story Mixed-Use Complex

A development project to establish a bio-industry hub that integrates bio-industry (work), residential (housing), and lifestyle (leisure) functions on the bio site within Gwanggyo Techno Valley (Gwanggyo TV) in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, is now in full swing.

On the 29th, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that the "Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation Gwanggyo Techno Valley Bio Site Development Project New Investment Proposal" containing these details was approved by the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly on the 26th.

This proposal is a follow-up measure to the approval granted last June, when Gyeonggi Province agreed to contribute the Gwanggyo Techno Valley bio site in kind to the Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH).

The Gwanggyo Techno Valley bio site, located at 919 Iui-dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, covers an area of 25,000 square meters. It is a former provincial property that had long remained idle and was previously designated as the site for a bio long-term research center.

This quasi-residential area will house a complex comprising business, residential, and neighborhood living facilities, with four basement levels and sixteen above-ground floors, totaling a gross floor area of 145,000 square meters.

The project is expected to provide stable housing for employees of Gwanggyo TV, nearby bio and health companies, research institutions, and young entrepreneurs, thereby helping to attract talent and improve residential conditions.

The Gwanggyo area is a key hub for the bio-industry in Gyeonggi Province, with over 200 bio-related companies, the Gyeonggi Institute of Economic Science and Technology, Gyeonggi Bio Center, Institute of Convergence Technology, Korea Nanotechnology Research Society, and Ajou University Medical Center all clustered nearby.

Through this project, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government aims to create a bio-specialized complex where work, research, housing, and daily life are seamlessly connected. The plan is to strengthen support for startup incubation and technology commercialization in collaboration with nearby institutions such as the Gyeonggi Bio Center, thereby elevating the status of Gwanggyo as a "global bio hub." The government emphasized that the approval of this proposal is significant, as it marks the transition of the "global bio hub" vision into a concrete business implementation phase.

A Gyeonggi Provincial Government official stated, "Following the approval of the in-kind contribution to GH in June, the new investment agreement has brought the development of the Gwanggyo bio site into the full-fledged implementation stage. We will simultaneously foster the bio ecosystem, nurture startups, and supply housing to make Gwanggyo TV the core hub of Gyeonggi Province's global bio hub."
