Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on December 29 that it will accept applications for the "2026 Military Noise Damage Compensation" from January 5 to February 27 next year.
The military noise damage compensation is a payment provided to residents of noise countermeasure areas designated and announced by the Ministry of National Defense, in accordance with the Military Noise Compensation Act.
This application is open to residents who had their resident registration and actually lived in the noise countermeasure area from January 1 to December 31 of this year. The city plans to send guidance documents and application forms by mail to households residing in the noise countermeasure area for the compensation application process.
Eligible residents can apply via mobile or online through the Hwaseong City Military Noise Damage Compensation website or Government24 by scanning the QR code in the guidance document.
In-person applications are also available. Residents can apply in person at the second floor of the Hwasan-dong Administrative Welfare Center, the third floor of the NSD Tower at 1044 Gyeonggi-daero, or the Yanggam-myeon Administrative Welfare Center.
The compensation will be reviewed by the Hwaseong City Regional Noise Countermeasure Deliberation Committee, with notification of payment decisions expected at the end of May and individual payments scheduled for the end of August.
Meanwhile, this year, Hwaseong City paid approximately 7.1 billion won in military noise damage compensation to 31,190 recipients.
