"Connecting Through Hobbies - Season 2" was launched to provide opportunities for natural interaction among single young adults who have limited chances to meet due to their busy daily lives, and to support the formation of a youth network within the region through hobby-based activities. A total of 30 unmarried men and women aged 30 to 45, either residing or working in Donghae City, participated in the program.
This season was notable for incorporating feedback from the first half of the year and participant surveys, resulting in an improved and expanded program. The number of classes was increased from three to four, and new classes such as barista and flower therapy, which are more popular among women, were added to enhance both participant satisfaction and gender balance.
Additionally, participants were grouped by similar age ranges to strengthen their sense of connection, and operational methods were improved to facilitate "natural, unforced meetings." As a result, satisfaction rates for both the group size and the evening weekday schedule reached a very high 95%, and overall program satisfaction was recorded at 84%.
Furthermore, 94% of participants reported a more positive perception of marriage after joining the program, indicating that the initiative achieved meaningful outcomes not only as an experiential program but also in fostering relationships and improving perceptions among single young adults.
Notably, this season led to the formation of two couples, providing tangible results and confirming that "Connecting Through Hobbies" is an effective platform for single young adults to meet and connect.
Based on the results of this season, Donghae City plans to further expand opportunities for free interaction, establish follow-up network support measures, and continue to develop new experiential content so that relationship building can continue even after the program ends.
Chae Sibyung, Head of the Administrative Department, stated, "By actively reflecting the feedback received during the first half of the year, we achieved significant growth in both participant satisfaction and actual interaction outcomes. Going forward, we will continue to support healthy relationships and local settlement for the younger generation through customized population policies that reflect their needs and realities."
