On December 28 (local time), as the summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky approaches, Russia continues to carry out intense offensives on the Ukrainian front.
According to TASS and other sources, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had attacked 148 locations in the past 24 hours, including Ukrainian military-industrial energy infrastructure, rocket engine parts factories, and foreign mercenary bases. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that as a result of these offensives, 1,240 Ukrainian troops were either killed or wounded.
The previous day, Russian forces also conducted concentrated airstrikes on energy-related facilities in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.
President Trump and President Zelensky are scheduled to meet in the United States to discuss a proposal to end the war.
Regarding the territorial issue, which is a key agenda item in the ceasefire negotiations, Russia is demanding that Ukraine withdraw its troops completely from eastern Donetsk and cede territory in the Donbas region. In contrast, Ukraine is seeking a halt to fighting along the current front lines.
