Bae Hyunjin, who serves as the Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Chapter of the People Power Party, has called for the immediate expulsion of former lawmaker Lee Hyehun, who was selected as the first Ministerial Candidate for the Ministry of Planning and Budget in the Lee Jaemyung administration.
On December 28, through her social media account, Assemblywoman Bae stated, "The Seoul Metropolitan Chapter of the People Power Party is appalled by the shameless political actions of Hyehun Lee, the party’s district chair for Jung and Seongdong-eul in Seoul."
She continued, "It is a clear act of betrayal that goes beyond political ethics for a former three-term senior lawmaker, who served in Seocho-gap-a strategically important and stronghold district for the People Power Party-and who is currently the district chair for Jung and Seongdong-eul, to join the Lee Jaemyung administration without even submitting a resignation from the party."
Bae further stated, "The nominee, who is well aware that our party has put forth every effort to block the Lee Jaemyung administration’s expansionary populist fiscal policy, which could pose a serious threat to Korea’s future as a fiscal expert, has acted no differently from those who collaborated with the Japanese colonial regime, selling out their conscience and soul for personal advancement. The Seoul Metropolitan Chapter of the People Power Party strongly recommends to the central party the immediate expulsion of this nominee."
