According to fire authorities and other sources, the fire started around 2:55 p.m. on the 27th at a motorcycle repair shop in Byeollae-myeon, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi Province.

Large plumes of black smoke soared into the sky as flammable materials such as gasoline and tires inside the repair shop caught fire. Witnesses, including nearby residents and drivers, made as many as 46 emergency calls after observing the scene.

Upon receiving the reports, fire authorities immediately dispatched 32 vehicles and 68 personnel. Firefighters took foam spraying (foam extinguishing) measures to prevent explosions caused by hazardous materials like gasoline, and focused on cutting off electricity and other efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

After about 1 hour and 47 minutes of firefighting, the blaze was largely brought under control at around 4:42 p.m. The fire completely destroyed one building belonging to the repair shop, resulting in property damage, but fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.

Immediately after the fire, Namyangju-si sent disaster alert messages to nearby residents and road users, notifying them of the fire and urging them to stay safe.

The police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage once the fire is fully extinguished.
