Sunmoon University Strengthens Full-Cycle Support for International Students: Recruitment, Employment, and Settlement

Discussions on cooperation to enhance the full-cycle support system for international students-from recruitment to employment and regional settlement-have begun in earnest in Chungnam Province.

Sunmoon University announced on the 26th that it recently co-hosted the "2025 International Student Recruitment and Settlement Project Performance Sharing and Expansion Workshop" with the Chungnam RISE Center at Lotte Resort in Buyeo, Chungnam.

This workshop was organized to share the achievements of the "International Student Recruitment and Settlement Project," a Chungnam RISE 4-2 unit project, and to further refine the support system for international students’ employment and regional settlement through cooperation among universities, local governments, and related organizations.

The event was led by the International Student Settlement Support Center of the Sunmoon University RISE Project Group, and was attended by more than 60 participants, including representatives from project universities, Chungnam Province, the Chungnam RISE Center, and the Chungnam Economic Promotion Agency. They discussed the direction and cooperation measures for Chungnam-style international student settlement policies.

During the workshop, presentations were given on Chungnam Province’s foreigner (immigration) policies, the current status of the Chungnam RISE 4-2 project, the development direction of Chungnam-style immigration policies, and strategies to encourage long-term settlement of international students.

The Sunmoon University International Student Support Team shared case studies on recruitment, employment, and settlement support for international students, presenting possibilities for field application. An explanatory session covering the overall visa system for international students was also held, receiving positive feedback from practitioners.

In addition, during the networking event, participating universities shared their experiences in policy implementation and discussed cooperative models that could be linked with local governments and related organizations.

Furthermore, universities participating in the Chungnam RISE 4-2 project presented their achievements in recruiting and supporting the settlement of international students.

Four universities, including Kongju National University, shared their strategies for student recruitment, academic adaptation support, employment linkage, and regional settlement cases, and discussed areas for improvement and challenges identified during project implementation.

The Chungnam RISE Center and participating universities also reviewed the direction for next year’s 2026 project and comprehensively examined improvement tasks and policy proposals to enhance operational efficiency.

Jeon Heeyoung, team leader of the Sunmoon University International Student Settlement Support Center, said, "This workshop went beyond a simple performance report and served as a platform to discuss and expand the Chungnam-style cooperation model for international students’ employment and regional settlement. We will continue to closely cooperate with local governments, universities, and industries to help international students grow as key talents in the region and settle stably."

Meanwhile, Sunmoon University, which is certified for excellence in internationalization capacity by the Ministry of Education and was selected for the Chungnam RISE project, continues to strengthen its full-cycle support system for international students, from recruitment to academics, employment, and settlement.
