Expansion of Functional Varieties and Securing Direct Sales Channels
Gangjin County in Jeonnam Province received the Excellence Award in the '2025 Agricultural Food Distribution Business Evaluation' organized by Jeonnam Province. The county was highly recognized for its achievements in the sale and quality management of 'Gangjin Rice' across five areas, including revitalizing the distribution of agricultural specialty products, fostering the agricultural food industry, rice sales performance, and brand development.

Building on the reputation of 'Gangjin Rice,' which has been selected as one of Jeonnam's top 10 branded rice products for 19 consecutive years, Gangjin County has expanded crop diversification and high value-added production by distributing the functional rice variety 'Miho' and providing incentives for paddy soybean cultivation. This year, Gangjin County achieved the highest rice export performance nationwide, further demonstrating its competitiveness in quality and potential in overseas markets.
Previously, Gangjin County was awarded the Encouragement Prize at the Jeonnam Province Active Administration Competition for achieving the top rice export performance in the country. To expand direct sales, the county operates the 'Gangjin County Agricultural and Marine Specialty Direct Sales Business Group,' increasing sales opportunities at event venues, metropolitan complexes, and expos.
Gang Jinwon, the county governor, stated, "The significance lies in the fact that our rice export achievements are directly contributing to farmers' incomes," adding, "We will make Gangjin a prosperous place for farmers by ensuring high-quality production and stable sales channels."
