The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport operates the Smart City Certification System to assess the smart service capabilities of domestic cities and to identify best practices. It evaluates outstanding institutions through a comprehensive assessment of 53 indicators, including innovation, governance and systems, and technology and infrastructure.
Yeosu City passed the first round of document review and the second round of on-site inspection, and was selected as an outstanding local government for 2025, receiving both a certificate and a plaque.
In this certification, Yeosu City received high marks for its distinctive and large-scale citizen-oriented smart services, such as 'YeosuN', an integrated smart tourism platform; the 'Smart Remote Meter Reading System', which allows real-time monitoring of water usage in remote areas; the Smart City-based 'CCTV Integrated Control Center'; the Smart Notification Electronic Bulletin Board; the citizen-oriented 'Big Data Portal'; and the Yeosu Industrial Complex Digital Environment and Safety Integrated Control Center.
A Yeosu City official stated, "With this plaque unveiling ceremony as a turning point, we will take another step forward to become a smarter city that is more convenient, safer, and better prepared for a sustainable future."
