[Tomorrow's Weather] Severe Cold Wave for the Morning Commute After Christmas... Nationwide Cold Wave Warnings in Effect

Seoul Morning Low of -17°C, Daytime High Reaching 4°C

On Friday the 26th, a severe cold wave is expected for the morning commute, with the lowest temperature in Seoul dropping to minus 12 degrees Celsius.


The morning low is forecast to range from -17 to -3 degrees Celsius, while the daytime high will be between -7 and 4 degrees Celsius.


As of 9 p.m. on the 25th, cold wave warnings are in effect for most regions across the country. The Korea Meteorological Administration has advised the public to take special care of their health due to the rapid temperature changes and low temperatures.


Most areas nationwide will see generally clear skies, but the Jeolla region will be partly cloudy at times, and Jeju Island will be mostly overcast.


Snow or rain that began the previous day will continue, especially in the Jeolla region and Jeju Island.

Over the two-day period starting from the previous day, expected snowfall is as follows: Ulleungdo and Dokdo 10 to 30 centimeters; mountainous areas of Jeju Island 5 to 10 centimeters (over 15 centimeters in some places); the west coast of North Jeolla Province, southern inland areas, and the west coast of South Jeolla Province 3 to 8 centimeters (over 10 centimeters in some places); mid-mountain areas of Jeju Island 2 to 7 centimeters; the west coast of South Chungcheong Province, Gwangju and western South Jeolla Province (excluding the west coast) 1 to 5 centimeters; and around 1 centimeter for the five West Sea islands, eastern South Jeolla Province, and coastal areas of Jeju Island.


During the same period, expected precipitation amounts are: Ulleungdo and Dokdo 10 to 30 millimeters; Jeju Island 5 to 20 millimeters; the west coast of North Jeolla Province, southern inland areas, and the west coast of South Jeolla Province around 5 millimeters; and less than 5 millimeters for the five West Sea islands, the west coast of South Chungcheong Province, Gwangju, and South Jeolla Province.


Fine dust concentrations are expected to remain at 'good' levels across all regions.


Waves are expected to reach 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the East Sea, and 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the West and South Seas. In the offshore areas (up to about 200 kilometers from the coastline), wave heights are forecast at 2.0 to 5.0 meters in the East Sea, 1.0 to 5.0 meters in the West Sea, and 1.5 to 4.0 meters in the South Sea.


Waves will be very high in most sea areas, so caution is advised to prevent safety accidents.
