This awards ceremony was organized to encourage the hard work of city and county council members who have contributed to the development of local autonomy throughout the year by strengthening communication with residents, addressing local issues, and engaging in responsible legislative activities, as well as to share exemplary cases of outstanding legislative work.
The event was attended by the chairpersons of city and county councils from across Gyeonggi Province, award recipients, and council officials, who gathered to congratulate the honorees. Prior to the awards ceremony, a celebratory performance by the Dongducheon City Choir elevated the atmosphere with a distinguished stage.
The awards were presented in a total of 11 categories: ▲Resident Participation and Communication ▲Resolution of Local Issues ▲Legislative Activity ▲Pledge Implementation ▲Revitalization of the Local Economy ▲Administrative Improvement ▲Improvement of Legislative Activity ▲Administrative Audit ▲Budget Reduction ▲Development of Legislative Research ▲Legislative Service. Each recipient in these categories was presented with a plaque of commendation.
From the host city, Dongducheon City Council, Assemblyman Kwon Younggi received the "Korea Local Legislative Service Award," while Assemblyman Kim Jaesu was honored in the "Legislative Activity" category, and Assemblywoman Lim Hyunsook was recognized in the "Legislative Service" category.
In his opening remarks, Kim Seungho, President of the Association of Chairpersons of City and County Councils of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "I deeply appreciate the dedication of all council members who have diligently carried out legislative activities directly connected to the lives of residents in the field. I hope this awards ceremony will further strengthen cooperation and communication among Gyeonggi Province's city and county councils and serve as an opportunity to reaffirm the roles and responsibilities of local councils."
The Association of Chairpersons of City and County Councils of Gyeonggi Province plans to continue its efforts to realize open and responsible local councils that work together with residents, using this awards ceremony as a stepping stone. The association also aims to lead the development of local autonomy through policy exchanges and cooperative projects among city and county councils.
