Two Lanes Toward Suwon Closed from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on December 27 and 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on December 28
Full Closure of Cheoncheon IC to Saemnae IC Section from 7:00 p.m. on December 27 to 8:00 a.m. on December 28
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on December 24 that it will completely close the Bibong-Maesong urban expressway to traffic from 7:00 p.m. on December 27 to 8:00 a.m. on December 28.
This traffic closure is due to girder installation work for the Incheon-bound KTX crossing the urban expressway. The city plans to carry out the construction during the weekend, when traffic volume is at its lowest, in order to minimize inconvenience for residents.
Accordingly, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on December 27 and from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on December 28, two out of four lanes toward Suwon will be closed, allowing traffic to flow only on the remaining two lanes.
In particular, the section between Cheoncheon IC and Saemnae IC will be completely closed from 7:00 p.m. on December 27 to 8:00 a.m. on December 28, when the girders are being transported and installed.
During the full closure, vehicles will be able to detour via National Road No. 98. The city will also allow free passage on the entire Bibong-Maesong urban expressway during the closure period.
Meanwhile, the Incheon-bound KTX direct connection project involves constructing a new 3.19-kilometer railway linking Eocheon Station on the Suin Line to the Gyeongbu High-Speed Line, as well as upgrading the existing Songdo, Cho, and Eocheon stations.
