All Tracks Based 100% on CSAT Scores
New Department of Semiconductor Engineering Established
Sogang University will recruit a total of 717 students through the regular admissions process for the 2026 academic year. For the regular admissions (general) track, Sogang University will select 622 students this year, based on the number of students before reflecting the transfer of unfilled early admission slots. In addition, 95 students will be selected through special admissions outside the quota. The final number of students to be recruited for the general track will be announced at the end of December, after reflecting the transfer of unfilled early admission slots once the additional recruitment for early admissions is completed.
Sogang University will establish the Department of Semiconductor Engineering in the 2026 academic year. The Department of Semiconductor Engineering will recruit 13 students in the "Na" group, and aims to nurture next-generation semiconductor talent through an integrated curriculum covering all areas of semiconductors, including devices, processes, design, and systems. Among students admitted within the quota for the 2026 academic year, those who meet certain requirements (enrollment for two consecutive semesters after admission, completion of at least 15 credits each semester, and maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher) will receive a living expense scholarship of 10 million won in January 2027.
All tracks in the regular admissions process select students based 100% on the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) scores. To apply for the regular (general) admissions track, applicants must take Korean, Mathematics, English, two subjects from Social Studies or Science, and Korean History. There are no restrictions on subject choices based on the field of study for each recruitment unit.
There are changes in the method of calculating scores. For this academic year, in order to reflect the most advantageous score for each applicant, Sogang University will calculate the applicant's score using both Type A and Type B weightings, and automatically apply the higher score. Type A applies weights of 1.1 for Korean, 1.3 for Mathematics, and 0.6 for Inquiry subjects. Type B applies weights of 1.3 for Korean, 1.1 for Mathematics, and 0.6 for Inquiry subjects. In other words, Type A places greater emphasis on Mathematics, while Type B places greater emphasis on Korean. In a CSAT with increased differentiation, as is the case this year, Sogang University's method of allowing students to be evaluated with the weighting most advantageous to their strengths can help reduce the burden on applicants.
For the Korean and Mathematics sections, standard scores are used, and for the Inquiry section, converted standard scores are used. For English and Korean History, additional points are awarded based on grade.
For English, the full score of 100 points is awarded for Grade 1, 99.5 points for Grade 2, 98.5 points for Grade 3, 97 points for Grade 4, 95 points for Grade 5, 92.5 points for Grade 6, 89.5 points for Grade 7, 86 points for Grade 8, and 82 points for Grade 9.
For Korean History, a perfect score of 10 points is awarded up to Grade 4, and from Grade 5 onward, 0.5 points are deducted for each lower grade. The general admissions track does not apply a minimum CSAT requirement, but the special admissions track outside the quota has specific eligibility requirements and a minimum CSAT standard (the sum of grades in three out of four areas-Korean, Mathematics, English, and Inquiry-must be 9 or less, and Korean History must be Grade 4 or higher).
Starting with the 2026 academic year, all undergraduate admissions tracks at Sogang University will reflect disciplinary actions for school violence. Applicants who have received a Level 1 disciplinary action will have 100 points deducted from their total score, and those who have received Level 2 to 9 disciplinary actions will be disqualified from selection (excluded from admission).
