Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province has compiled and published the "2025 Dongducheon City Elderly Registration Statistics" to serve as a foundational resource for the development of senior welfare policies.
This statistical report was meticulously structured by integrating and combining administrative data and existing statistical materials across nine key areas-population, households, population mobility, housing, health, welfare, income, employment, and safety-covering a total of 82 items. The survey targeted residents of Dongducheon City who, as of 2024, are aged 65 or older and registered as residents.
According to the published results, as of 2024, the elderly population in Dongducheon City stands at 22,551, accounting for 25.2% of the total population-significantly higher than the national average of 19.5%. This demonstrates that, amid the transition to a super-aged society, the demand for elderly-related services continues to grow. In the area of senior employment, 8,727 individuals (38.1%) were found to be employed.
Based on these statistics, Dongducheon City plans to design more sophisticated welfare, care, health, income, and employment policies for seniors tailored to local conditions, and to allocate necessary policy resources efficiently.
A city official stated, "We will continue to do our utmost to improve the quality of life for our citizens by developing customized statistics for Dongducheon City."
